Rancho de Español is owned and operated by Clara Cambronero and family, Costa Ricans by birth. In total Clara, who has a master degree in the Spanish Language field, has been teaching Spanish for more than 20 years, including having worked for the American Peace Corps, when it had just opened a training center in Costa Rica, in the Spanish department teaching trainees who wished to become U.S. volunteers in different parts of Latin America.

During those years she attended many workshops given by U.S. specialists in fields of second language acquisition. She worked with students from diverse backgrounds with multiple learning styles. Clara also taught the Spanish as a second language in many schools in Costa Rica.
Now she supervises the teachers here at Rancho and is constantly looking for ways to improve the program.
